Dear CMHA Members,

We invite you to attend the upcoming All Candidates Meeting on November 4, 2014 in the gymnasium of Banting Middle School at 7:00pm.

We especially encourage those in the Hockey 3/4 and Atom divisions to come, in their jerseys, in order that the candidates can have a clear understanding of the children that are forced to wake up at 4:30am on school days in order to get their ice times.

The Master Plan the City is using to base their planning on is attached and you will find it says little about ice hockey. In fact, the first questionnaire that went out to the public completely omitted hockey and related ice arenas. The Plan states that registration numbers have remained consistent over the past 10 years despite the increase in population, not taking into account that we have been UNABLE to grow because of the lack of ice.

There has no been additional ice added to City of Coquitlam complexes for 40 years and Planet Ice was opened in 1995 which was almost 20 years ago. If we do not have our voices heard then we may wait another 20 years for additional ice.

Hockey is a big part of our community and if we do not see additional ice to accommodate the additional population, we will see many our of children denied the opportunity to take part in this great Canadian game.

Please email your Coordinators back with your confirmation of attendance so we can put together a series of questions to ask the candidates as representatives of Coquitlam Minor Hockey.
