Subject: Criminal Record Check Deadline Nov.1st & Player Supervision
As you are all aware the deadline for submitting your updated criminal record check to me is November 1st for those who have not done so for previous 2 years.
CMHA policy states;
“It is the obligation of any person required to produce a Criminal Record Check by virtue of this policy to complete the check and to ensure the results are submitted to the Risk Manager of Coquitlam Minor Hockey Association no later than November 1st if that person is a new applicant, or if 3 years has passed since submitting a Criminal Record Check to the Association. Additionally, the applicant is obliged to inform the appointed Risk Manager in writing if he or she is charged, tried or convicted of any offence under the Criminal Code or under other provincial or federal statutes.
Failure to submit the required Criminal record Check within the framework set out in the Policy can result in the individual being deemed in-eligible to hold the above positions."
Managers are therefore urged to ensure each and every team official has done so prior to stepping on the ice, or into a dressing room or bench as of today. Failure to do so results in the official or coach being ineligible and therefore resulting in sanctions for the team.
Secondly, please take a moment with your coaches to reevaluate how your team implements the required “Two-Deep policy” of BC Hockey. Please refer to link for the BC Hockey bulletin.
If they continue to find this rule to be a challenge please clearly explain to the coaches the risks they are taking on by leaving the kids unsupervised, in the dressing rooms, or out in the parking lot for a warm-up.
As always, should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.
Thank you for your efforts with CMHA, and for keeping our kids safe.
