TO: BC Hockey Membership
FROM: Barry Petrachenko
Chief Executive Officer
SUBJECT: HCSP Certification Reminder
Please note that the BC Hockey’s Policy Manual has been updated.
Section Four of this pertains to the Hockey Canada Safety Program, Respect in Sport Guidelines, Locker Room Policy and Parent Meeting Policy and includes changes which affect all teams:
NEW: All BC Hockey Minor Teams are required to register a Safety Person who is certified in the Hockey Canada Safety Program (HCSP). The Safety Person is required to be certified prior to participation in practice and games.
NEW: Minor Hockey Associations are to ensure that a Safety Person who is certified in the Hockey Canada Safety Program (HCSP) is in attendance during all sanctioned activities. Failure to meet this requirement may result in the revocation of BC Hockey sanctioning. Unsanctioned events are not covered by the association’s insurance policy.
If you require any information regarding these adjustments please contact our Safety Coordinator Anne Deitch at firstname.lastname@example.org.
*Note: As CMHA policy as always been that the HCSP should be in attendance at every game and practise, this does not change much except the additional requirement of attendance at every sanctioned event.
