Fundraiser for John Naso

Posted by Celso CMHA Webmaster on Feb 12 2012 at 07:38PM PST

One of our long term CMHA players, who is now playing Juvenile, Alex Naso, and his family could use our help. His father, John was diagnosed over a year ago with brain cancer and was given a prognisis of 3 months to live. Fortunately, he has exceeded this time due to the use of an new drug. Now, as the drug has only extended John’s life but not “cured” the cancer, the government has decided to STOP funding the cost of his therapy and if John wants to continue with the treatment, he will have to pay for it. John and his wife Wendy and their 5 boys cannot do this on their own and need some help.

In order to help the family continue the fight for John’s life, our Coquitlam Minor Hockey Association is supporting a fundraiser. The fundraiser will be held on Sunday February 19th at the Golden Spike Pub at 3224 St. Johns Street, Port Moody, BC, between 1 pm and 4 pm. For those of you who have Facebook, you can check out the site at the Facebook address below.

We urge you to help John and his family fight this disease. If you cannot attend, please consider making a donation, if you can. This isn’t about a person on the news hour or in another city, this is a family in our community, in our Asociation that needs our help. Alex is one of our boys and John is his dad. Please do what you can.

“the doctor said it would be fast, well not on my watch”
